PhD student and Postdoctoral Fellow Openings at Thermal Energy Materials Group, WPI-MANA (T. Mori Lab)
The Thermal Energy Materials Group, WPI-MANA International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics in the National Institute for Materials Science, directed by Professor Takao Mori has PhD student (Univ. Tsukuba Graduate School Program) and Postdoctoral Fellow openings. The group is mainly involved in research on development of cutting edge thermoelectric materials through development of new enhancement principles, and also development of thermoelectric devices. Metal alloy, inorganic, and hybrid materials are being studied. Prof. Mori is also the Project Leader of a large new project in Japan, the JST Mirai Large-scale project, with 10 member groups from universities and it is a vibrant research and collaborative environment also. The group’s lab is very well equipped with 6 ZEM (ZEM-2, 4 ZEM-3, ZEM-5), 3 Hyperflash, ZT meter, TGA/DSC, scanning thermal probe micro-image, 2 high power SPS, ballmills, arc furnaces, multiple bulk and thin film synthesis apparatuses, Hall apparatus, both picosecond and nanosecond TD-TR, and PEM-2, Mini-PEM for TE device evaluation, with multiple SEM, TEM, PPMS, MPMS and also a high end foundry, etc. available, so any energetic young researchers will be able to carry out a lot of good research. There is also good collaboration with theory groups in the institute and universities in the Mirai Large-scale project.
Interested applicants should send resume to Prof. Mori by email: MORI.Takao@nims.go.jp
